Kuleana
Hawaiians believe that all things in the world are part of an interconnected fabric, and humans exist as part of the ʻāina (land), not separate from it.
Her Story
Started by our Aunt Ohelo, our ohana has worked together to create this exquisite collection of Hawaiian jams and mango chutneys inspired from our home on the North Shore. With our native roots coming from the culturally rich town of Lai’e, you could say that farming and cooking in the old Hawaiian way runs through our koko (blood). Our Aunt learned everything in the kitchen from her mother (our tutu) that loved to throw pa’ina’s (parties) where everyone enjoyed her cooking. This was Ohelo’s first introduction to learning to work with the robust flavors our island has to offer. Stepping out of the kitchen and onto the ʻāina (land), our aunt began her career in farming when she started a successful micro-herbs farm in Ho’olehua, Molokai, that sold to multiple hotels and resorts throughout Hawai’i. It was here that she developed a connection to the land and a strong understanding to harvesting food to its full potential.
